Cricket Career of Sai Kishore:
He used to bowl medium pace initially but ended up with spin bowling. He played district-level cricket during his school days. Later, he played state-level cricket for Tamil Nadu under-16 and under-19 teams.
Then, Sai played for Chepauk Super Gillies in TNPL 2016 and 2017.
Subsequently, on March 12, 2017, he started his List-A career for Tamil Nadu by playing against Gujarat in the Vijay Hazare Trophy under the captainship of Vijay Shankar. He bowled nine overs and picked two wickets in the match.
The same year, on October 13, he made his First-Class debut against Tripura in the Ranji Trophy. He bowled 19 overs in the match but couldn’t manage to take any wicket.
In 2018, Kishore made his T20 debut match for Tamil Nadu opposite Andhra, in which he bowled three overs with an economy of 6.66.
He then played for Jones TUTI Patriots in the next season of the TNPL (2018). In 2019 TNPL, he played for Ruby Trichy Warriors.
International Cricket:
Sai made his international debut for India on October 03, 2023 against Nepal. In the match, he bowled 4 overs and took one wicket.
IPL Career:
Sai Kishore began his Indian Premier League (IPL) journey with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2020, signing for a base price of ₹20 lakhs. Despite being part of the squad for two seasons (2020 and 2021), he did not feature in any matches during this period.
In the 2022 IPL mega auction, Sai Kishore’s fortunes changed when the Gujarat Titans (GT) acquired his services for a substantial ₹3 crore. He made his IPL debut that season, playing five matches and taking six wickets with an economy rate of under eight, contributing to GT’s title-winning campaign.
The 2023 season saw a dip in his participation, as he did not play any matches for GT. However, he made a notable comeback in 2024, appearing in five games.
Ahead of the 2025 season, during the IPL mega auction, GT utilized the Right to Match (RTM) option to retain Sai Kishore for ₹2 crore.
